HSC President Dr. Dickey elected to distinguished Institute of Medicine

Nancy W. Dickey, M.D., President of the Texas A&M Health Science Center and Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs for the Texas A&M University System, was elected this week to the Institute of Medicine, a component of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences. She is the first ever member from the HSC.

HSC President honors Regent Stallings

Dr. Nancy W. Dickey, President of the Texas A&M Health Science Center accompanied College Station Mayor Ron Silvia and College Station Assistant Chief of Police Larry Johnson as they presented an Honorary Policeman's badge to The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents member, Coach Gene Stallings. Regent Stallings is a former Texas A&M University head coach and the 1992 head coach of the University of Alabama's NCAA National Football Championship Team. The presentation was held in a ceremony at the Board of Regents offices on Thursday, November 30, 2006.

Parmer Receives Presidential Award for Excellence

Elvin E. Smith, Ph.D., executive vice president of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center and a driving force in bringing medical education to Texas A&M University, was recognized for 30 years of outstanding leadership and service at a reception on May 31 at the A&M Health Science Center’s headquarters in College Station.

HSC President in Leadership Role on National Health Record Initiative

Nancy W. Dickey, M.D., president of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center and vice chancellor for health affairs for the A&M System, is taking a leading role in conjunction with a groundbreaking initiative to create a personal health record for every American. Dr. Dickey will serve as chair of a new not-for-profit advisory board comprised of health care leaders that has been formed to assist Medem, a leading national physician-patient communication network, in ensuring protection of patient privacy as it launches a secure, interactive, personal health record for every American known as iHealthRecord.
