Katrina Nursing Volunteer Update and Training Session Tomorrow

September 2, 2005

The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, in collaboration with the Brazos County Health Department's Emergency Preparedness Response Team, will hold a free informational update and training session at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, September 3) for nurse professionals who are willing to assist area hurricane evacuees. All Paramedics, RNs, LVNs, CNAs and nursing students available to volunteer to assist the individuals coming into the Bryan/College Station area as a result of Hurricane Katrina are invited to participate. The Brazos Valley is in critical need of nurse volunteers to assist in the assessment of the evacuees’ medical needs.

CBHEC to Host Future Nurses

The Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC), a center of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, will host the Third Annual Future Nurses Club Conference. The conference is an educational event that is motivational and inspiring to high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in health care.

Castro Named STC Interim Director

September 20, 2004

Juan F. Castro, M.D., has been selected as Interim Director of The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center’s South Texas Center (STC) in McAllen, effective immediately. Dr. Castro also serves as director of the Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC) in Corpus Christi and will divide his time between the centers.

Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC) To Host Second Annual Future Nurses Club Conference

The Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC) at The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center will present the second annual Future Nurses Club Conference on Thursday, January 29, 2004, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lone Star Ballroom in Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s University Center. This year’s conference theme is “This is not your Mother’s Nursing Career.”

Coastal Bend Health Education Center to Present Conference On Issues in Nursing Retention

The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center’s Coastal Bend Health Education Center is sponsoring a conference, Management Leadership in a Complex Health Care Environment: Retention Implication, on Thursday, October 23, 2003 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The conference will be held at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, 402 Harbor Drive, in the Corpus Christi–Kleberg Room, and will feature Reuben McDaniel, Ed.D., and Ruth Anderson, R.N., Ph.D.

School of Rural Public Health Dean Appointed to National Institutional and Policy Strategies for Increasing the Diversity of the U.S. Health Care Workforce
