Joseph Tiago, a soon-to-be graduate of the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health, left Cameroon seven years ago, became a U.S. citizen and is now on his way to being among the first Austin graduates with a Master of Public Health degree this Saturday.

The Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health recently honored its first group of Austin distance education students, as each of the 18 soon-to-be graduates will receive a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in epidemiology and environmental health.

SRPH assisting Leon County in administering grant for better access to care, services

The Health Resources and Services Administration Office of Rural Health Policy has awarded Leon County a three-year grant of approximately $540,000 to develop a network and infrastructure for increasing access to specialty care and mental health services for county residents, and assistance will be provided by the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health.

SRPH students volunteer with local Meals on Wheels program for several years

Students from the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health have consistently participated in the Brazos Valley Meals on Wheels program since the component first opened its doors. Through the HSC-SRPH Rural Public Health Student Association, students deliver 20-25 meals every Wednesday morning, and student Amanda Reichle coordinates the volunteering efforts.
