College of Pharmacy teams win Walk Across Texas in their counties

Pharmacy teams combine to walk 21,897 miles in annual event

Three teams from the Texas A&M Irma Lerma College of Pharmacy garnered the top three spots for their counties in the Walk Across Texas Challenge 2019. The teams, which consisted of staff, faculty and administration, competed against 32 teams in Kleberg and Kennedy counties.

The first-place team, the Kleberg Walkers, which was led by team captain Eugene Martinez, logged a total of 4,621 miles. Second place went to the COP-Crazy Walkers (4,428 miles), which was led by Jayshree Mishra, PhD, and third place went to Rx Runners (4,339.7 miles) which was led by Victoria Pho, PharmD.

A total of 10 teams from the College of Pharmacy participated in the event, walking a total of 21,897 miles.

Walk Across Texas, which is sponsored by the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, is a free eight-week program designed to help Texans establish the habit of regular physical activity. Since 1996, thousands of Texans have participated in Walk Across Texas.
