(KINGSVILLE, TX) — The Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy hosted a fall career expo on September 2-3. The career expo offered TAMHSC-Rangel College of Pharmacy students opportunities to interact with future employers, get a sense of what is expected of them upon graduation, and find a possible opportunity for employment.

During the expo, pharmacy students met with various corporate recruiters to inquire about their companies. Each recruiter displayed an exhibit table that provided students with hands-on informational material as well as promotional items. Third- and fourth-year pharmacy students interviewed for permanent post-graduation positions with as many different corporations as they wanted.

In total, 28 fourth-year pharmacy students were interviewed, and eight third-year pharmacy students were interviewed.

“The 2010 Fall Career Expo was a great success, with fifteen pharmacy partners participating,” said Ms. Kimberlee Garza, director for institutional advancement. “We were especially excited to have three branches of the U.S. Armed Forces represented, and hope to continue to diversify recruiter participation from all areas of the pharmaceutical industry.”

Corporate sponsors for this event were Complete RX, CVS/Caremark, K-mart, LifeChek Drug, U.S. Army Medical RCTG Command, Target, Valley Baptist Health System, Wal-Mart, H-E-B, Kroger, Christus Spohn Health, US Navy, Walgreens, Safeway, and the US Air Force.
