Graduate student invited to Clinton Global Initiative University Annual Meeting

Rhoda Annoh Gordon, a graduate student at the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) School of Rural Public Health, has been invited to attend this year’s Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), April 5-7 at Washington University in St. Louis. Annoh Gordon will present her plan for preventing adverse cardiovascular outcomes in pregnant women and infants in Africa.

Established by President Bill Clinton in 2005, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together influential leaders from across the globe to discuss and implement new strategies for addressing global concerns. CGI U was launched to engage the next generation of leaders from university campuses worldwide and serves as a growing community of young leaders who do not just discuss global challenges but take real steps toward solving them.

During the year prior to the annual CGI U meeting, students and youth organizations develop their own specific plan of action that addresses a pressing challenge on campus, in the community or around the world. Annoh Gordon will be meeting with world leaders to present her commitment to action and discuss ways to implement her prevention plan.

In addition to her studies at TAMHSC-School of Rural Public Health, Annoh Gordon is a fellow of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), member of the International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy and a trained pharmacist in her home country of Ghana.

Nearly 1,200 attendees are expected at CGI U, with focus areas including education, public health, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, and poverty alleviation.
