Katrina Nursing Volunteer Update and Training Session Tomorrow

The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, in collaboration with the Brazos County Health Department’s Emergency Preparedness Response Team, will hold a free informational update and training session at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, September 3) for nurse professionals who are willing to assist area hurricane evacuees. All Paramedics, RNs, LVNs, CNAs and nursing students available to volunteer to assist the individuals coming into the Bryan/College Station area as a result of Hurricane Katrina are invited to participate. The Brazos Valley is in critical need of nurse volunteers to assist in the assessment of the evacuees’ medical needs.
The session will be held in the Grant Education Center located in the basement of the St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas. Free parking is available in the visitor parking lot behind the hospital. Volunteer participants must bring a copy of their license or certification and a valid driver’s license to be eligible to participate. Nursing students interested in participating must bring their student ID and a valid driver’s license.
