(COLLEGE STATION) – On January 24, 2006, Marie Parmer was awarded the Presidential Award of Excellence for Administrative Support by the Texas A&M Health Science Center.

Nancy W. Dickey, M.D., president of the Health Science Center and vice chancellor for Health Affairs for the Texas A&M System awarded Parmer for her contributions to the Health Science Center.

Parmer has been a longtime, dedicated employee at the College of Medicine. She currently serves as the executive secretary to Walter P. Dyck, M.D., the executive associate dean on the College of Medicine’s Temple campus. Parmer has been an employee at Scott & White Hospital since June 1977 and in her current position since July 1996.

“Marie has clearly demonstrated over the years her long-term commitment to supporting our mission and educational efforts at the Scott & White campus in Temple,” Dickey said. “She has become the ‘go to person’ for both our College of Medicine as well as our School of Rural Public Health.”

An active member of the American Association of Medical Colleges’ Deans’ Assistants Group since 1996, Parmer serves on the board and on many committees. She also received the Outstanding Staff Award in appreciation of her service and support from the College of Medicine in December 1998.
