Cancer Research Teams receive Travel Awards from CTxCARES

The CTxCARES Center (Communities of Texas: Cancer, Activity, Research, Education, Support) a component of the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) School of Rural Public Health recently announced the granting of seven travel awards to research teams focused on accelerating the implementation and dissemination of cancer prevention and control research.

Doctoral student on national working group for adolescent, young adult oncology

Deborah Vollmer Dahlke, doctoral student in the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health, was invited to participate in one of five working groups assembled to review specific areas and make recommendations at a National Cancer Institute (NCI) meeting Sept. 16-17, 2013, titled “Next Steps for Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology: A Scientific Update.”

Wood named President of American Cancer Society Board

Richard Wood, M.H.A., a doctoral student at the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) School of Rural Public Health, has been appointed president of the American Cancer Society 2012-2013 Brazos County Board of Directors.
