Parker appointed to DHS’s Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson recently announced the appointment of Gerald W. Parker, D.V.M., Ph.D., along with 27 other new members, to the Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee (HSSTAC). The HSSTAC provides scientific and technical advice on matters related to the expansion of technological capabilities across the homeland security enterprise.

Alpini named the 2016 Takeda Distinguished Scientist, honored for work in gastrointestinal field

Gianfranco Alpini, Ph.D., distinguished professor of internal medicine and medical physiology at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, was recently named the 2016 Takeda Distinguished Scientist by the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section of the American Physiological Society.

It could have something to do with their DNA. Patrick and Austin Hodges, No. 1 and No. 2 in this year’s Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry graduating dental class, are identical twins. It doesn’t take much digging to figure out it’s not the first time these two have demonstrated a penchant for academics.
