University Business honors TAMHSC for efficiencies

(BRYAN, TX ) – Texas A&M Health Science Center is one of eight colleges and universities recognized by University Business magazine’s Models of Efficiency program, which is sponsored by Higher One, a leading solutions provider for higher education business office operations. Models of Efficiency recognizes innovative approaches for streamlining higher education operations through improvements in technology or business processes. The latest honorees are featured in the July/August issue of University Business.

“Efficient business operations translate into better experiences for students and administrators alike, and the Models of Efficiency program aims to encourage schools to prioritize service,” says Tim Goral, editor-in-chief of University Business. “Texas A&M Health Science Center stands out for developing a very effective solution to a challenging situation.”

Texas A&M Health Science Center was honored for the implementation of a new web-based enterprise asset management system in its Facilities & Construction department, which centralized facilities and construction operations on eight separate campuses across the state without using additional funding or personnel.

In addition to Texas A&M Health Science Center, the summer 2012 honorees include: Iowa State University; Northern Arizona University; Old Dominion University; Northeast Wisconsin Technical College; California State University, San Bernardino; Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Worldwide Campus; and Western Washington University, which was honored twice, for two different departments.

Full descriptions of honorees’ projects, as well as those of past rounds and application information for upcoming rounds, can be found at www.universitybusiness.com/moe.

“It’s a very rewarding experience to partner with University Business in recognizing efficiency on campuses across the country,” says Mark Volchek, CEO of Higher One, the program’s sponsor. “The creativity, tenacity and determination demonstrated by these Models of Efficiency are inspiring to other schools and to us at Higher One, as we continue to streamline costs in campus business offices to provide more value to students.”
