Wilson named COM Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies

(COLLEGE STATION) – Van Wilson, Ph.D., professor in the Microbial and Molecular Pathogenesis Department, has accepted the position of Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. He will assume the position effective immediately.

Dr. Wilson has been a dedicated and productive member of the faculty since arriving at the College of Medicine in 1983. He has served the college well in many capacities and has extensive research experience. Dr. Wilson was instrumental in the creation of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program and the Intercollegiate Faculty of Virology, and also served as the chair of the Texas A&M Institutional Biosafety Committee for 15 years.

In the area of graduate studies, Dr. Wilson was a departmental Graduate Advisor for 10 years, served on the Graduate Admissions & Recruitment Committee for nine years and the Graduate Instruction Committee for eight years.

“I am confident in Dr. Wilson’s ability to take our research and graduate programs to new heights,” said College of Medicine Dean, Dr. Christopher C. Colenda. “I also look forward to his leadership in the role of Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.”
