The spirit of giving is in the air! Four of our students on the Dallas Campus, second-years Linda Kristelle Yelderman and Minh Le, and third-years Daniaal Saeed and Alexander Le, volunteered at the Healthy Harvest Festival, organized by @BSWHealth, with the help of Drs. Lydia Best and Lauren Fine. These students ran the Walk with a Doc booth, where they got to walk with attendees around the fair and speak to them about the benefits of regular exercise and a balanced lifestyle!

Autoimmune disorders — inflammatory reactions forcing the body’s immune system to attack itself — have increased in prevalence in recent years. Research from Dr. Jianxun (Jim) Song, professor of microbial pathogenesis and immunology at #TAMUMedicine, dove into the connections between eEF2K and CD4+T cells and inflammatory diseases. Song’s lab focused on the eEF2K protein kinase’s role in immune responses and autoimmune inflammatory disorders. Through testing, they found that manipulating this protein kinase could be explored as a novel and viable approach to treating autoimmune diseases.
